Although these products have an impact on the development of the fetus and child, support services for pregnant women take little interest in them. Yet they pose numerous problems for the mental health of mothers, the balance of mother-child interactions, and the future of the children. This review of the literature shows that these problems are underestimated and undertreated. After examining the impact of the mostly commonly used substances, we present the risk factors for maternal drug addiction and the specific programs that have been validated for supporting addicted women with parenthood.
