Ce psychiatre helvétique, récemment décédé, considéré par Ludwig Binswanger comme son fils spirituel, s’est notamment illustré par ses recherches en psychopharmacologie, qui le conduisirent, en 1957, à la découverte des premiers antidépresseurs. Nous montrons, à partir de la question de la dépression, le rôle essentiel que tient dans son œuvre la phénoménologie, absolument indissociable de ses recherches cliniques. Ami de Gaston Bachelard, Michel Foucault et Henri Maldiney, Roland Kuhn conçoit la philosophie comme cette interrogation sur l’existence propre à replacer la question du sujet au cœur de toute recherche en psychopathologie.

This Swiss psychiatrist, who recently passed away, was considered by Ludwig Binswanger as his spiritual son. His research in psychopharmacology led him to the discovery, in 1957, of the first anti-depressant. Based on an examination of the issue of depression, we emphasize the substantial role in his work of phenomenology, which is inseparable from his clinical studies. Counting philosophers such as Gaston Bachelard, Michel Foucault and Henri Maldiney among his friends, Roland Kuhn considered philosophy as an interrogation on existence, capable of placing the question of the subject back at the heart of all psychopathological research.

Este psiquiatra helvético, fallecido recientemente, considerado por Ludwig Binswanger como su hijo espiritual, se ilustró sobre todo por sus trabajos en psicofarmacología que le condujeron, en 1957, al descubrimiento de los primeros antidepresivos. El autor muestra, a partir de la cuestión de la depresión, el rol esencial de la fenomenología en su obra, absolutamente indisociable de sus investigaciones clínicas.
