L’absence de réciprocité entre mère et nouveau-né risque de provoquer un ébranlement identitaire et narcissique douloureux.Le blues postnatal peut être appréhendé comme moment signifiant des transformations psychiques accomplies, scandant la fin du processus de la grossesse. Il témoigne d’un signal adaptatif pour le moi, attestant du travail intersubjectif de l’émotion, à la mesure de la régression maternelle indispensable face au bébé et de l’actualisation d’enjeux affectifs inédits. Par là-même, il favorise en quelque sorte le passage de l’intrapsychique maternel vers le développement et la naissance de la vie psychique du bébé, et l’ajustement interactif de la dyade.

It thereby encourages, in some sense, the passage from the maternal intrapsychic to the development and birth of the psychic life of the baby, and the interactive adjustment of the dyad.
