520 _aAlthough they are often perceived in terms antagonists, French secularism is not equivalent in any way to the ignorance of religion with political and judicial authorities. In this context, the reception of Islamic norms in French law has long concerned almost exclusively issues of private international law centered on the reception of foreign law marked by Islamic law. Today, thanks to the final establishment of a large Muslim population in France, Islamic norms derived from major scriptural sources of Islamic law, but also customs and practices that pose a strong normative question on several areas of law. This phenomenon reveals some areas of more or less dynamic confluences.
