520 _aNew second-hand book retailers justify their investment with an environmental argument. Commercializing used books makes it possible to support actions so as to protect natural re-sources and oppose waste. This article studies the functioning of two organizations—a social and solidarity economy company and the shop of an associative network—whose activity consists in collecting and resaling books. The aim is to compare discourses and activities so as to examine the coherence or contradictions that could appear. Two essential parts of their work are studied: selecting the books and setting resale prices. This contribution aims to un-derscore two points: the integration of the book into circular economy and the operations by which a donation is resold through organizations.
