520 _aCollapsology develops a catastrophist prophecy combining determinism, anhistorical scientism and abstract spiritualism. Against it and based on subsistence ecofeminism and the work of Ivan Illich, we propose a brief genealogy of industrialism which, by its constant war against material autonomy and community ties, is responsible for the current deterioration of the living conditions on Earth. This results in the outline of an alternative to the present. Those who wish to escape the deadly fate of industrial civilization must promote, as far as they can, a post-industrial way of life based on the land, the measured use of technology and sobriety.
