520 | _aThe French publication of the WISC-V is an opportunity to have a critical look at the foundations and utility of the measurements of intelligence provided by the Wechsler scales. This article examines the conceptual foundation of these scales, from the concept of global intelligence proposed by Binet to the CHC model underlying the contents and organization of the WISC-V. The strengths and weaknesses of this model are presented, along with its implications for the assessment of intellectual functions. The role of the index score scatter analysis in the interpretation of the performances on the WISC-V is discussed. Finally, the implications of research using neuroimaging to reveal brain networks involved in solving intellectual tasks are examined. The consistency of the current results with some of Binet and Wechsler’s intuitions is highlighted. | ||
