520 _aIn addition to political science, sociology and psychology are currently the disciplines most frequently turned to by those seeking to understand the phenomenon of Islamic radicalization. This article, which is divided into two parts, compares these two frames of reference: on the one hand, the critique of sociological research, and on the other, the critique of psychological research. The goal is to analyze the use of the concept of identification and its sociological and psychological application in understanding the mechanisms by which the “radicalized Islamist” identity is constructed.
