520 _aThe ulis ( unité localisée pour l’inclusion scolaire) (local unit for educational inclusion) system serves children from very different backgrounds. What they have in common is that they belong to the school community. We must decentralize our approach to inclusion and change the way we view these children/students and their disabilities in order to open up new paths for their education and to offer them a place in society. This requires support from special educational needs teachers, teaching teams, and medico-social teams, working with these students’ families. It also demands innovative pedagogies in order to provide specific responses to each student’s needs.
