520 _aBased on action-research conducted with school social workers (ssws), we examine the effective implementation of an atypical social service run by a Centre communal d’action sociale (ccas) (Community Social Action Center). These professionals fulfill an overall mission of prevention for families within primary schools. The competence developed by this team, at the interface of the national education system and the local authority, reveals a singular evolution of the profession, where the historically prescribed missions are hidden from the view of the institutions.
