520 _aOur study aims to examine the autonomy of Congo's media regulator (CSLC) from political authority, and the relationships between this regulator, professional organizations, and the state. The study is based on the analysis of the legal framework of the media as well as fifteen documents related to the regulator’s deliberations and actors’ discourses. The study shows that the regulator's autonomy is guaranteed by the legal and functional framework. This autonomy is weakened by government actors through the manipulation of the legal framework and the regulatory body. This leads to tumultuous relationships between the actors involved, marked by political pressure, a desire for independence, and suspicion of politicization.
