On constate, dans ce long passage, un refus de la description classique et un réemploi massif d’anecdotes et de qualités empruntées aux membres du cercle du Grandval, en particulier à Mme d’Aine. L’auberge acquiert de la sorte un statut original qui nous renseigne sur le type de fiction que Diderot souhaitait promouvoir.

This long passage is characterised by a refusal of classic description and the massive reuse of anecdotes and qualities borrowed from the Grandval circle and in particular Mme d’Aine. The inn thus acquires an original status that tells us much about the kind of fiction Diderot wanted to promote.
