Bien que ces données aient été centrales dans l’action du Bureau international du travail, secrétariat de l’institution, leur production et leurs usages restent sous-étudiés. La mesure du risque encouru lors de la manœuvre d’accrochage des wagons devenant l’objet de conflits entre différents acteurs, ce cas permet notamment de mettre en lumière les obstacles rencontrés par l’institution pour internationaliser un savoir scientifique, les enjeux qui entourent l’élaboration de statistiques internationales et les limites de l’utilisation de données quantitatives dans le dialogue social. | ||

While this data was crucial for the ILO’s activities, little attention has been paid to how it was produced or used. Measuring the risks while manually coupling carriages became a source of conflict for various stakeholders, and this case notably sheds light on the obstacles that the ILO faced in internationalising scientific knowledge, as well as the stakes around creating international statistics and the limitations of using quantitative data for social dialogue. | ||
