520 | _aA pluralistic context requires new theories of catechesis. Constructivism is a popular approach in philosophy as well as in pedagogy. is this model useful for catechesis? in this article we discuss the advantages and problematic aspects of this approach as applied to catechesis. We consider constructivism from a theological and pedagogical point of view. next, we propose another model for catechesis, namely, the hermeneutic-communicative model. This approach does have some constructivist elements, especially as regards the plurality of interpretations, but also aspects that avoid the criticisms often made of the constructivist model. We present theological arguments for the hermeneutic-communicative model in contemporary catechesis. | ||
