Alors que certains l’applaudissent, d’autres craignent les répercussions d’un tel geste sur l’opinion internationale. Il existe toutefois un petit nombre de femmes, appartenant au mouvement pacifiste, qui s’opposent à l’occupation française. Pour elles l’aide humanitaire apparait comme le meilleur moyen de venir en aide aux enfants de la Ruhr, mais également de faire connaître leur opposition aux actions entreprises par leur gouvernement.

Pacifist women’s opposition to the French occupation of the Ruhr (1923-1925) The French occupation of the Ruhr in 1923 provoked mixed reactions in France, even within internationalist networks. While some applauded it, other feared its repercussion on international opinions. However, a small number of women, belonging to the pacifist movement, will publically oppose the French occupation. For them, humanitarian aid appeared to be the best way to help the children of the Ruhr, but also make their opposition to the actions undertaken by their government known.
