L’article analyse ses techniques corporelles et leur impact autant sur les interactions que sur son parcours personnel pendant l’ère impériale allemande. Il étudie les ressorts des relations, notamment ce qu’elles disent des différences corporelles ressenties.
520			_aThe article studies the strategies used by Gidi-Gidi, an Ewe trader, to welcome German explorers and administrators, as well as the way in which he presented himself to them as a local elite and “évolué”, and the impact of such techniques of appearance on his later career under German government in Togo. The Germans met the African actor prior to and during the establishment of the German Imperial Administration in Togo, which he helped to construct in one of the strategic regions of that Colony between 1887 and 1914. The article examines the outcomes of the interactions, highlighting the bodily differences experienced.
