520			_aCet article rappelle qu’à Milan, entre le 6 et le 9 septembre 1880, c’est-à-dire aux mêmes dates que le congrès d’éducateurs de sourds, se sont tenus deux autres colloques, absents de la bibliographie relative à l’éducation des sourds, le deuxième congrès international d’otologie, et, du 2 au 5 du même mois, le premier congrès international de laryngologie. Il analyse la communication faite le 8 septembre, dans le cadre du congrès otologique, par le docteur Fournié, alors médecin adjoint à l’Institut des sourds-muets de Paris. Intitulé « De l’instruction physiologique du sourd-muet », cet exposé, qui développe un point de vue en complète opposition à l’opinion des éducateurs sur « la mimique », défend l’idée très actuelle que le langage des gestes est à la fois « l’expression naturelle d’un besoin de l’intelligence » et le moyen privilégié de l’exercice de la pensée.
520			_aThis article reminds us that between September 6 and September 9, 1880, i.e. the same dates as the congress of educators of deaf persons, two other symposia were held, although they are absent from the bibliography on the education of the deaf. These two events were the second international otology congress, and from the 2nd to the 5th of the same month, the first international laryngology congress. The article analyzes the presentation made on September 8 during the otological congress by Dr. Fournié, then assistant doctor at the Paris Institute of Deaf-Mutes. Entitled “On the education of deaf-mutes“, this presentation, which develops a viewpoint totally opposed to the opinion of educators on « mimic », defends the very topical idea that the language of gestures is both “the natural expression of a need of intelligence“ and the privileged means for the exercise of thought.
