520			_aDepuis 1976, 25 épidémies dues au virus Ebola ont été recensées. Celle de 2014 est la plus grave. Bien qu’elle ait rapidement acquis une dimension internationale, les États occidentaux ont sous-estimé ses effets. Ils ont été très lents à réagir et ont laissé trop longtemps les organisations non gouvernementales gérer seules la crise. Depuis le mois de septembre, ils ont enfin pris conscience de la nécessité de consacrer des moyens importants pour lutter contre cette épidémie exceptionnelle.

Despite rapidly reaching an international level, Western states underestimated its effects. They were very slow to react and left non-governmental organizations to deal with the crisis alone for far too long. It was not until September that they finally recognized the need to mobilize significant means to tackle this exceptional epidemic.
