Contrairement à la démarche qui consiste à juger de la légalité ou non de leurs activités, cet article se propose de suivre leur trajectoire dans l’histoire récente du Katanga, afin de mieux évaluer leur rôle dans le devenir de la région.

Pillage or restructuration ?Previously dominated by a public monopoly, new actors have emerged in the mining sector in Katanga during the 1990s. These new agents contribute to the reconfiguration of local capitalism by reworking its relationship to the state and to the world economy. Without judging the matter of the legality of these activities, the author follows their various trajectories in the recent history of Katanga so as to better evaluate their role in the future of the region.
