520			_aL’Éthiopie connaît depuis novembre 2020 une guerre civile. Cet article tente d’en restituer la trajectoire et d’en expliquer les principaux ressorts, en revenant sur la marche à la guerre, les violences du conflit, et ses dimensions internationales. Sur la base d’enquêtes de terrain menées pendant la guerre, l’article montre ce que la violence doit à des luttes dont les enjeux sont la forme de l’État, la politisation de l’ethnicité et la mise en place d’une nouvelle hégémonie partisane autour du Parti de la prospérité. L’article insiste sur le mode de gouvernement de ce régime, qui articule un réveil des mobilisations ethno-nationalistes au renouvellement d’un contrôle partisan marqué par des dynamiques de cooptation et de répression des opposants, sur fond d’enrôlement des populations civiles dans la violence.
520			_aSince November 2020, Ethiopia is embroiled in a civil war. This article attempts to reconstruct the trajectory of the conflict and to highlight its main dynamics, by analysing the onset of the war, current violence, and international dimensions. Based on fieldwork conducted during the war, the paper shows what violence owes to struggles over the form of the state, the politicization of ethnicity, and the establishment of a new partisan hegemony under the Prosperity Party. This article details the mode of government adopted by the current regime, which articulates a revival of ethno-nationalist mobilizations, enlistment of civilians in violence, and the renewal of party control marked by dynamics of co-optation and repression of opponents.
