520			_aL’association Arts Convergences s’est constituée avec la volonté de participer à la dé-stigmatisation de la maladie psychique : en s’appuyant sur les capacités dont disposent-les personnes en souffrant et pour certaines d’un réel talent artistique, des artistes professionnels ont été sollicités pour mettre en lumière leurs aptitudes au décours d’ateliers de création pendant 9 mois, et concevoir une exposition dans l’Orangerie du domaine de Madame Elisabeth à Versailles. Reconnaître la valeur de la vie humaine dont l’art est sans doute une des plus belles figures, même lorsqu’elle est caractérisée par une souffrance psychique insupportable ; accueillir l’« art des fous » et tenter l’aventure sans soignant, voilà qui est novateur, enthousiasmant et qui interprète en quelque sorte les impasses des discours ou des pratiques de soin qui ne voient dans le malade psychique que la maladie et le déficit.
520			_aMental illness and artistic creationThe association “Arts Convergences” was founded for the purpose of contributing to the de-stigmatization of mental illness. Relying on the yet largely unrecognized capacities of individuals suffering various forms of mental disorders, of whom some are endowed with real unsuspected artistic talent, professional artists were asked to work closely with a few of them and try to highlight their hidden skills through a series of creative workshops over 9 months. Eventually, an exhibition of their productions would be held at the Orangerie du domaine de Madame Elisabeth in Versailles. To recognize the value of a human life of which art is probably one of the finest expressions, even when that life is characterized by an unbearable mental suffering; to accommodate the “art of the insane” without any prejudice and outside the healthcare system, that’s innovative, exciting and introduces a mindset shift from current care practice where the mentally ill are only considered in relation with their deficit.
