Le pouvoir soviétique l’enferma dans un système de sujétion particulièrement pervers ; son rapport au peuple devait dorénavant passer par la médiation du Parti-État. Avec la constitution d’un nouvel espace public, la perestroïka marqua une rupture majeure avec ce passé. Mais l’effondrement de l’URSS et la naissance d’une nouvelle Russie placèrent l’intelligentsia dans une situation périlleuse. Confrontée à d’autres règles du jeu dans un système socio-économique dominé par l’argent facile et la corruption, elle se relève aujourd’hui difficilement de la précarisation et de la marginalisation. Son influence s’est réduite comme peau de chagrin dans un paysage médiatique bouleversé et soumis au règne du pouvoir politique et du profit. Au croisement des routes de la Baltique, Saint-Pétersbourg représente un cas symptomatique de cette crise. | ||
