520			_aRésumé Appréhendé sous un angle sociologique, le conflit israélo-palestinien peut être considéré comme le paradigme d’une « constellation » mutuellement contraignante dont l’effet premier est une escalade apparemment irréversible de la violence. L’analyse distanciée, qui seule permettrait d’enrayer ce « processus aveugle », est aujourd’hui contrariée par un discours critique à l’égard d’Israël hâtivement taxé d’antisémite. Cet article tente de montrer que ce discours exprime un sentiment bien différent, un « enthousiasme anti-israélien ». Libérateur d’une pensée bien-pensante, et surtout de la honte liée au souvenir encore vif de la Shoah, il réduit notamment, au fil des raisonnements les plus rudimentaires, l’État hébreu à la dernière citadelle du colonialisme, et occulte ainsi les véritables enjeux du conflit.
520			_aFrom a sociological perspective the Israeli-Palestinian conflict may be viewed as the paradigm of a mutually compelling “constellation”, the chief effect of which is the apparently inexorable escalation of violence. A detached, dispassionate analysis of the situation, which would seem the only means of arresting this “blind process”, is hampered in our day by the widespread reflex of all-too-hastily branding any criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic. This article seeks to show that such criticism often expresses a very different sentiment, an “anti-Israeli enthusiasm”. A vent for righteous indignation that brings some relief from the still-burning shame of the memory of the Shoah, it employs facile equations reducing the Jewish State to the last bastion of colonialism and thereby conceals the true issues underlying this conflict.
