Apparu à la suite de l’émergence de la science-fiction aux États-Unis dans les années 30, il a successivement investi des genres littéraires (polar, fantasy, romance), des courants artistiques, punk, rock, puis de l’art contemporain, de l’illustration ou du graphisme. Un autre type met en scène des fandoms, communautés aux pratiques culturelles apparentées, domaine très actif, depuis les années 60, autour du cinéma de genre mais aussi de séries ou de football. Au-delà d’un panorama historique parcellaire, cet article tend à faire émerger des pratiques, telles que le « Do It Yourself » révélées par un format en mutation, qui questionne notre rapport à la culture, entre industrie marchande et capacité d’émancipation. | ||

Appeared as a result of the emergence of science-fiction literature in the United States in the 1930s, it has successively invested literary genres (polar, fantasy, romance), artistic currents (punk, rock), then contemporary art, illustration and graphic design. Another type of production, which is used to stage fandom – a community of people with related cultural practices – is also very active, especially since the 1960s, to talk about genre cinema (horror, thriller, pornography…), television series or football. Beyond a fragmented and incomplete historical panorama, this article tends to bring out practices, such as the ’Do It Yourself’ revealed by a changing format, which questions our relationship to culture, between commercial industry and an ability to promote emancipation. | ||
