520			_aDix-neuf sépultures à char ont été fouillées scientifiquement, de 1966 à 1994, dans dix nécropoles du groupe méridional des tombelles ardennaises et la plupart ont été publiées séparément dans des monographies et revues variées, parfois locales. Dans cette contribution, nous présentons, pour la première fois, tous les plans de ces tombes pour les confronter. Nous abordons successivement la situation des sépultures à char dans les nécropoles et sous les tertres, leur orientation, leur taille et leur forme, les indices de chambre funéraire, le sexe et la position des personnes inhumées, puis les manipulations postérieures à l’enfouissement des chars. Ensuite, nous évoquons rapidement le mobilier funéraire en examinant sa qualité, sa quantité et son répertoire ainsi que sa situation dans les fosses. Enfin, le lecteur trouvera quelques indications sur les véhicules.

A Contribution to Funeral Architecture and CustomsNineteen chariot burials were scientifically excavated between 1966 and 1994 in ten cemeteries of the southern group of the Ardennes tomb series, and most were published independently in various, and sometimes only local, monographs and journals. In this contribution, we introduce for the first time the plans of all these graves and compare them. We deal successively with the location of the chariot burials in the cemeteries and under the tumuli, their orientation, their size and shape, the hints at funeral chambers, the gender and the position of the persons buried, and concluding with the manipulations that took place after the chariots were buried. Then we focus upon the funeral furnishings with attention to their quality, quantity and repertoire, as well as their positioning in the pits. Finally, the reader will find some detail of the vehicles themselves.
