Si la sublimation reste un changement de but sexuel, elle interroge la manière d’y parvenir à partir du détour par l’objet, par sa rencontre comme par son deuil. C’est à ce paradoxe que nous confronte la cure de Julien, entre idéalisation et haine de l’objet.

How, then, in contexts where the question of the ideal becomes central to the treatment, can we attempt to identify one or more sublimatory processes? If sublimation remains a change of sexual aim, it questions the manner of achieving it by means of the detour via the object, through its encounter as well as its mourning.
