520 | _aA preview image of the Holocaust and the Vichy regime in French history textbooks for primary education published from 1945 to 2000For many years, the Holocaust as well as France under the Vichy regime were not studied in their correct context in the curricula of elementary school classes, although they were acknowledged within the overall chronological framework of this period. This raises the question of which elements of information on these two subjects appear in the content of history textbooks designed for primary education since 1945 ? It would be unrealistic to expect to find an exhaustive presentation of factual information. What we will discuss rather is the elements of history in the form of words or short, pithy sentences. Until recently we have frequently noticed the absence of information on the Holocaust and the Vichy regime in primary school textbooks. However, there are some instances where this is not the case.It is therefore interesting to analyze these pieces of information which for a long time were the only elements of information on these topics. In current times, high schools with modern and more advanced educational programs have started teaching French youth more on these subjects. | ||
