520			_aComment Michel de Boüard, en charge de l’enseignement de l’histoire de la Normandie à partir de 1940 a-t-il abordé ce champ de recherches nouveau pour lui ? Dès la période de l’Occupation, l’historien a multiplié les programmes de recherches ambitieux. L’aspect majeur de son œuvre est la promotion d’une approche interdisciplinaire des études régionales, principalement entre l’histoire et l’ethnographie, puis entre l’archéologie et l’histoire médiévales. En ce sens, la Normandie fut avant tout un terrain d’expérimentations scientifiques. Le professeur d’histoire de la Normandie eut également à prendre part aux grands débats historiographiques de son époque, notamment la vive controverse sur la continuité ou la discontinuité entre la Neustrie franque et la Normandie ducale.
