Pour cela, il mobilise plusieurs registres, dont certains peuvent paraître mutuellement contradictoires : l’ingénierie scientifique appliquée à la science sociale, la transposition laïque du thème chrétien de la venue prochaine du Royaume, le genre utopique et même la littérature d’anticipation. La superposition de ces stratégies de légitimation vient pallier les limites de la science pour la réorganisation sociale. Depuis le xxe siècle nous sommes revenus du mythe du progrès et de sa dimension eschatologique, mais au prix d’une désillusion et d’une perte de sens collectif, voire d’un catastrophisme qui ressuscite d’anciennes terreurs apocalyptiques. | ||
