520			_aRésuméL’article examine si Thomas est en mesure de relever lui-même le défi qu’il lance à la noétique d’Averroès, celui de justifier théoriquement la proposition hic homo intelligit. Il s’agit d’étudier l’éventuelle concurrence entre deux énoncés : « l’âme pense par soi » d’un côté ; « l’homme pense » de l’autre. Pour cela, on revient sur la distinction entre les différents niveaux de l’agir, sur le statut de l’âme humaine comme partie formelle du composé hylémorphique humain, sur l’idée que actiones sunt suppositorum et sur la portée, enfin, de la dépendance au corps.
520			_aThis article examines whether Thomas himself is capable of responding to the challenge he poses to Averroès’ noetics : to provide a theoretical justification for the proposition hic homo intelligit. We shall examine two statements which may well be in competition: on the one hand, ‘the soul thinks in and of itself’ ; on the other, ‘the human being thinks’. In doing so, we reconsider the distinction between the different levels of action, the status of the human soul as the formal component in the hylomorphic make-up of the human being, the notion that actiones sunt suppositorum, and finally the significance of the soul’s dependence on body.
