| 520 | _aRésumé Dans le cadre de la XXVe édition des Journées francophones de virologie, le Pr Frédéric Laurent a tenu la conférence intitulée « Phages et phagothérapie : de Félix d’Hérelle aux phages 2.0 ». Au cours de celle-ci, Frédéric Laurent a détaillé l’histoire des phages : de leur découverte et leur utilisation au début des années 1920, en passant par leur abandon dans les pays occidentaux dans les années 1940 au profit des antibiotiques, puis leur réapparition ces dernières années dans le cadre de l’émergence de souches bactériennes multirésistantes. Tout au long de cet exposé, le Pr Laurent a également détaillé le fonctionnement général, les techniques de bioproduction et de contrôle qualité des phages ainsi que les progrès à faire dans le traitement compassionnel de patients en échec thérapeutique. | ||

Frédéric Laurent detailed the history of phages: from their discovery and their first use in early 1920s, through their abandonment in Western world in the 1940s in favor of antibiotics, then their reappearance in recent years within the context of the emergence of multi-resistant bacterial strains. Throughout this presentation, Pr. Laurent also detailed general functioning of phages, their chain of bioproduction and quality control, the progress to be made in the compassionate treatment of patients in therapeutic failures. | ||
