520			_aLes organisations ouvrières françaises, syndicales en premier lieu, initialement marquées par l’antimilitarisme et l’anticléricalisme se sont pourtant appropriées précocement et durablement ces emblèmes religieux et militaires que sont les bannières et les drapeaux. Cet article revient sur l’émergence de ces marqueurs d’abord de classe ou professionnels, souvent antérieure à la constitution des organisations. Il s’attache à leurs conditions de production et leurs usages, rituels mais parfois susceptibles d’effets politique et à leur institutionnalisation. Depuis le dernier tiers du siècle leur progressif abandon au profit de banderoles et pancartes a incité certaines organisations ouvrières à s’engager dans une politique de sauvegarde patrimoniale.
520			_aFrench workers’ organization — trade unions first and foremost — initially defined by antimilitarism and anticlericalism, nevertheless adopted the religious and military emblems that are banners and flags rather early and in a long-lasting way. This article looks at the emergence of these markers of class and professional occupation, which often arose prior to organizations being formally developed. It focuses on how flags and banners were produced, as well as their various uses, both ritualistic and capable of political effects, and the institutionalization of such uses. Since the last third of the century, flags have gradually been abandoned in favor of banners and signs, which has encouraged certain workers’ organizations to call for policies to protect this cultural patrimony.
