Ce livre raconte l’histoire vraie d’un homme qui présentait vingt-quatre personnalités. Ces vingt-quatre personnalités sont faites d’enfants, de femmes et d’hommes d’âges, d’origines et de niveaux socio-culturels variés. Nous verrons comment ce kaléidoscope de personnages a pu venir à la rescousse de Billy Miligan pour le protéger du risque d’être lui-même face à son histoire et à sa structure psychique.
