Il plante le décor de la ville et met en scène ses acteurs, leurs gestes, leurs activités. Cette analyse lui permet de distinguer un double registre de la nuit urbaine, à la fois violente et consolatrice car abolissant partiellement les hiérarchies. Grâce aux chansons, tout le cycle nocturne est déroulé, étape par étape, chacune campée dans sa lumière propre et son atmosphère particulière.
520			_aFrom a corpus of 19th and 20th century songs about Paris, the author tries to guess the nocturnal imaginary built and carried by this type of source. He fixes the setting and directs his actors, their movements, their activities. This analysis allows him to distinguish two faces of the urban night, both violent and soothing, for it partly abolishes hierarchies. The whole cycle of the night unfolds thanks to songs, step by step, each standing in its own light and particular atmosphere.
