One sees a real change in the way of studying the life and works of the apostle Paul. Analyzing the different reasons why such is the case, D. Neuhaus reviews old and new sources at our disposal and the manner in which they should be used so as not to go astray. The author’s reading of Paul in his time and milieu contains three theses : 1) his letters are preferable to the Acts of the Apostles for understanding his ideas ; 2) the Paul of the letters is, indeed, a Jew ; 3) the break between Judaism and Christianity happened after Paul.
