The Enlightenment has provided the conception of human being on which economic sciences are grounded. Two centuries and a half later, it appears that this anthropology is obsolete. This paper begins by examining the sources of this anthropology, in particular the controversy between augustinism and humanism. Then, it challenges three postulates : first, instead of having a naturally given certainty of existing, human being is deeply concerned by the question of existing and cannot solve it by himself alone. Second, instead of making rational choices independently of others, his way of being and thinking depend of those of others. Third, instead of being able to limiting himself naturally and, therefore able to live in harmony whith others, human being is animated by a boudless desire of existing. Finally, the paper presents some remarks on money and on the fact that, when people drift together, none of them is conscious of going adrift.
