Un midrash sur la scène du buisson ardent peut éclairer doublement certains passages des écrits johanniques. Il apporte une confirmation à l’idée classique d’une corrélation entre l’épisode des noces de Cana et la crucifixion de Jésus. Il autorise aussi l’hypothèse que certains thèmes ou expressions des textes johanniques (la comparaison de Jésus au serpent, la désignation de Jésus par l’expression « celui-là ») pourraient être un écho de la polémique entre la première génération chrétienne et la Synagogue. A midrash concerning the burning bush throws light on some passages of the fourth gospel. It confirms the idea of a correlation between the wedding in Cana and Jesus’ crucifixion ; it also comforts the hypothesis that in several themas and expressions found in that gospel (the comparison between Jesus and the snake, the use of the pronoun that one in reference to Jesus), we find an echo of the polemics between the first Christian generation and the Synagogue.
