Satisfaction factors related to the working environment of cross-border managers in the Upper Rhine Valley - 2021.

While the use of cross-border labor is growing rapidly (> 21 percent between 1999 and 2012 in the Upper-Rhine (Insee, 2016)), cross-border workers’ relationship to their job remains a subject that has been little studied to date. Yet the demanding working conditions (Garufo, 2014), induced by daily commuting fatigue combined with a high workload (DeFranck et al., 2000), call into question the durability of the work relationship. The conceptual examination of the work demands and resources (Bakker and Demerouti, 2007) and the satisfaction (Larouche et al., 1973) of cross-border workers provides the first descriptive answers. A qualitative study carried out with twenty-nine cross-border managers from the Upper Rhine provides a deeper understanding of the process. Results mainly highlight the perception of work recognition related to remuneration, career path, and hierarchical responsibility.
