The changing profession of manager: A prospective approach - 2019.
95
In this paper, we first offer an update of the traditional characterization of the profession of manager (in terms of managers’ activities or roles). We describe the current profession of manager using a competency framework, and adopt a provisional prospective approach that enables us to establish an envisaged scenario of the future profession of manager. We highlight that this profession will certainly be characterized by three specific tensions: the accountability of decisions, the combination of technical and managerial expertise, the need for individual management, and the need to federate a collective.
