A need to instigate a support programme for children and their families has emerged as a result of investigations carried out by the Spanish “CaixaProinfancia”, a programme supporting child development funded by the Caixa’s social work branch. This evaluation led to the creation of “Learning Together, Growing as a Family.” Aimed at promoting the development and improvement of family life, it focuses on 6- to 12-yearold children by encouraging positive relationships within the family through the application of positive parenting principles. The Programme was designed by a team of experts from four Spanish Universities and developed in collaboration with families and their children. Its objectives are to move towards a holistic vision of the development of family life and learning from three perspectives : emotional, behavioural and cognitive. The article discusses the application and subsequent assessment from the point of view of both parents and children, using teaching and learning strategies and resources in line with current educational practices.
