"Conducting fieldwork as a teacher analyzing one’s own students and their development generates ambivalence. Instead of ignoring it or trying to neutralize it, this paper aims to problematize it in several ways: through the objectification of a biographical capital which, in turn, determines specific forms of engagement with the profession and in the interactions with the students; by considering their evolution in a longitudinal approach; by comparing the teacher’s perception and judgment categories to the researcher’s, and the discrepancy between the predictions of the former and the observations of the latter."
