The author, current president of SFG points out the choice of SFG concerning the elaboration of a charter of deontology. Drawing on the work of Paul Ricœur, the author situates ethics as an essential third pole in the practice of psychotherapy. He indicates the illusion and the risks of taking a position that isn’t based on individual responsibility. This charter binds us to the principals of our professional sector and offers us a common reference by which we can question our practices. Far from being a constraint, it appears to be significant and instructive. Being sensitive to questions asked by certain members, the author recommends experiencing the Charter and evaluating together its effects based on concrete situations.
