In the Library of History, the Segesta described by Diodorus of Sicily has a subtle identity, as it is an indigenous, Elymus (thus non Hellenic) city, but it is also deeply hellenized. This perspective is similar to Cicero’s in his Verrines. The point of view of both authors on the city seems to be moderated by a posterior reality, i.e. the evolution of the city between the Vth and the Ist century B.C. : both of them seem to actually depict Sicily as they perceive it in the Ist century.
