Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | ABSTRACT Identities of eurpean rugby clubs facing to professionalisation This article presents how the managers of french and british rugby clubs are face with the ever increasing changes to the individuals running professional (1987-2000) caused largely by the audio-visual media. The dynamics of this process are due to the resultant confronta~tional tensions between conflicting economic morals (market or community economic regu~lations). From a sociological perspective it’s been shown that these behaviour patterns cannot be sim~plified to a structural adaptation wihtin the constraints of the new environment (economis~ation, commercialisation...) and that the reference to the voluntary asociation has not van~ished. The entrepreneurial abilities are not systematically developped. The managers make original organisational arrangements which define a range of possible strategies to build the club identity. By using interviews and analysing the clubs internal documentation, four researches were carried out with regard to these points on clubs from France and Britain and developped so as to find out and illustrate the ways in which sport clubs build their identity. |
