| Summary, etc. | L’originalité de Nabokov tient à son trilinguisme. Quand il pratique l’autotraduction en anglais, russe, français, il évite toute superposition des versions de ses œuvres. Toute traduction devient alors un original et réciproquement, puisque l’écrivain a toujours pensé son œuvre en trois langues. Est ainsi proposée, grâce à la complexification des évidences, une réflexion sur les pouvoirs de l’art. Plutôt que de faire du réel une origine, Nabokov met en évidence sa multiplicité séparée en facettes disjointes, l’écrivain montrant la nécessité d’une littérature qui joue sur les échelles et les langues pour appréhender un monde d’illusions. |

| Summary, etc. | Can a Trilingual Work Be Original ? Nabokov’s originality resides in his trilinguism. When he translates his works into English, Russian and French, he avoids any superimposing of the versions of his works. Every translation thus becomes an original and vice versa, because the writer always conceived his work in three languages. Thus, thanks to a more complex understanding of what seems obvious, a reflection on the powers of art is made possible. Rather than making reality an origin, Nabokov brings to light its multiplicity fragmented into separate facets, the writer revealing the necessity of a form of literature which plays on scale and languages to grasp a world of illusions. |
