| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Facial and bodily hair is seen in scientific and popular literature as a characteristic of the masculine biology that would stand for the entire species. The fact that numerous human populations don’t show such sexual dimorphism is kept silent. This paper reconsiders Darwin’s hypothesis that suggests the reasons for the body hair variability in the human species, a hypothesis that has been left without descendance since the 19 th century. It opens the debate again to show that the ongoing theoretical silence around masculine hairlessness is a way to impose on entire populations a biological model of sexual differentiation. Our hypothesis here is that this absence of questioning serves to protect and widen some gender and race ideologies specific to European societies. |
