520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The present article attempts to analyse Heidegger’s indebtedness to the German tradition of Medieval thought without reducing it to the well-known couple Heidegger – Meister Eckhart. In trying to draw a sharp distinction between the scientific conception of time as a homogeneous continuum and the viewpoint of historical sciences which conceive of time as the medium for the discrete manifestations of human spirit, the young Heidegger seems in fact to be in line with certain fundamental insights developed in the theory of time of the German Dominican Dietrich of Freiberg. Both Dietrich and Heidegger argue sharply against a « naturalistic » or « psychological » definition of time, for they both make time to be rooted in the ontologically privileged position of human existence. But the influence of Dietrich’s philosophy on Heidegger’s thought proves to go even further: the circularity of the «abyssal foundation» the later Heidegger sees at work between the event of Being (Ereignis) and Dasein actually bears a strong resemblance to what Dietrich describes as the dynamic circle of foundation between divine and human intellect.
