Comparisons, Convergences, Filiations This article discusses the possible meanings of the Babo’s Day, a ritual of gender inversion observed thirty years ago in North-Eastern Greece which has become nowadays a “patrimonial carnival”. The author examines the relations between the traditional phases of the celebration, and some Balkan rituals as well as certain ceremonials in Hellenistic Antiquity.
