| Summary, etc. | Les textes d’Augustin permettent de voir l’émergence progressive d’une nouvelle conception de la honte, qui est désormais sans rapport avec le regard des autres : il s’agit de la honte face à son propre péché, c’est-à-dire d’un affect par lequel l’esprit humain se découvre placé face à Dieu, et par lequel il fait l’expérience de la grâce. Dans un renversement des valeurs antiques, Augustin fait de cette honte l’occasion d’une liberté absolue à l’égard des conventions sociales et morales habituellement reconnues. |
