520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Note on “common sense”: an attempt at linguistic and socio-discursive characterization one of the current tasks of linguistics is to work out a common sense theory capable in particular of accounting for the mechanisms of semantic self-evidence. the specific objective of a general pragmatics of common sense is to contribute to just such a theory. We start by examining the philosophical concept of common sense, seeing linguistic common sense as the semiotic construction of the rules of the praxis, which opens up on a new way of defining a research program in pragmatics. after having exposed a theory of the normative components, the indispensable condition for any community of meaning, this article offers a more precise analysis of the variations of common sense (canon, vulgate, doxa), a distinction justified by the use of several functional criteria. in this way, we are characterizing a basic level of linguistic analysis whose philological description constitutes a reevaluation of the stakes of criticism and of discourse analysis.
